Here are a few proposals for a new Discord server!
Board presence and oversight
- [ ] All board members have owner/admin roles
- [ ] All board members signed in and assigned "Board" roles on server
- [ ] Board reviews and adopts moderation, management, and operations policy for the server
- [ ] Discord manager can be a volunteer role; Discord manager should report to one designated member of the Comms committee
Community management
- [ ] Apply and enforce chapter's official Code of Conduct
- [ ] Develop and post Discord-specific rules and content policies
- [ ] Enlist an active roster of moderators and community managers
- Moderators enforce policies
- CMs keep things lively and welcoming
- Comms committee to determine moderation/CM policies and recruit and manage volunteers
- CM/moderator volunteers should be onboarded onto Notion for organizing and invited to Comms meetings
Server settings and policies
- [ ] Include IGDA news channel to repost announcements from IGDA server
Promote the Discord
- Once any new policy changes are in place, make a push to drive traffic by publicly announcing and linking the Discord community
- Add to website
- Add persistent link in newsletters
- Tweet about it, etc.
